The MK Youth Initiative recently organized a youth training session at Mbale Secondary School (Mbale SS) focused on cashew nut farming. The event attracted a large number of enthusiastic young people eager to learn about this profitable and sustainable farming practice.
The training, led by agricultural experts and members of the MK Youth Initiative, covered essential topics such as planting techniques, soil preparation, and the long-term benefits of cashew farming. The youth were given practical demonstrations and hands-on experience to help them understand the entire process, from planting seedlings to harvesting.
Participants were highly engaged throughout the session, asking questions and showing a strong interest in starting their own cashew farms. Many of the attendees expressed their appreciation for the MK Youth Initiative’s efforts to bring such valuable knowledge to the community.
One student remarked, “I had no idea cashew farming could be so profitable and suitable for our region. This training has opened my eyes to new possibilities for my future.”
The MK Youth Initiative, known for its commitment to empowering the youth through education and skill-building, was praised for the training. The initiative also provided resources such as seedlings and farming tools to help the youth kick-start their farming projects.
Chairman Mr. Patrick, speaking at the event, encouraged the youth to take what they had learned and apply it to improve their livelihoods. He emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture, urging the young people to view cashew farming as an investment in their future and the future of Mbale.
The success of the training session further solidified MK Youth Initiative’s role as a driving force for positive change among the youth in the region, inspiring many to take up cashew farming as a way to secure economic stability and contribute to the growth of their community.
